Obituary for Blanche M Herman

BLANCHE ''BUNNY'' M. HERMAN

RIDGELAND, S.C. - Blanche “Bunny” M. Herman, 94, left to be with our Lord, Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015.

She was born in Youngstown, to Louis and Anna Daus of Youngstown on July 9, 1921.

Bunny attended The Rayen School and went on to  work at Republic Rubber Company in Youngstown, before going into the U.S. Navy. She attended Hunter College for Basic Training into the W.A.V.E.S. She first served at the Dallas Air Station as a schedule maker, then at Memphis, Tenn. Naval Air Base as a schedule operator.

Bunny returned to Youngstown and Republic Rubber, where she met her husband, Robert Herman. They married Feb. 21, 1948, and she  went to work at K-Mart in Austintown as a bookkeeper.

In 2002, Bunny moved to North Carolina with her son, Jim Herman, and his wife, Sandy, where they resided until 2006, before moving to Ridgeland.

Bunny was a member of the Wickliffe Christian Church for over 60 years, and throughout her life was a volunteer for Red Cross and other various organizations.

Blanche leaves behind her son, Jim (Sandy) Herman of Ridgeland; granddaughter Patti (Shane) Chapman of Ridgeland; granddaughter Jackie (Guy) McConnell of Morrisville, N.C.; great-grandsons Logan and Riley Chapman; and great-granddaughter Kennedy McConnell.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert Herman; her parents, Louis and Anna Daus; her sisters, Ruth Brajkovich, Peggy Gallagher, Ethel Daus and Emma Daus; and brothers Herman Daus and Louis K. Daus Jr.

Family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. Services will follow calling hours at 10 a.m.

Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
