DIAMOND - Walter C. “Wally” Blankschaen Jr., 77, died at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at Hospice House in Poland.

He was born on Jan. 21, 1938, in Cleveland, the son of the late Walter C. Sr. and Evelyn Bevans Blankschaen.

Wally was retired from Packard Electric in 1999, after 40 years of service.

Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting, raising Monarch butterflies, archery, and playing bocce on a league at the American Legion in Lake Milton. His greatest joy was spending his time with his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, the former Sandra Marason, whom he married on Aug. 3, 1968; his sons, Kenneth W. (Melissa) Blankschaen of Canfield; his daughter, Kerry L. (fiancé Thomas Kos) Blankschaen of Youngstown; his granddaughter, Madaline Kos; and one sister, Belva (Patrick) Reilly of Mentor.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, where Pastor Jack Acri will celebrate Walter’s life.

Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015.

He will be buried at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
