Obituary for Doris Lobdell Clark

Doris L. Clark, (Lobdell) 91, entered eternal rest on August 11 at her home in Crosby Commons, Shelton, after a long illness. Doris was born in Ansonia on May 22, 1920, and was a lifelong resident of the Valley. After graduation from Ansonia High School in 1937, she was employed by the Anaconda American Brass Company where she worked with her future husband, George Bush Clark. Doris proudly served her country in the WAVES during World War II, stationed primarily in Dallas, TX. Doris and Bush were married on May 6, 1950. After raising a family she returned to work in the library at Ansonia High School. Doris had a deep love of her family, church, books, music and volunteering. After Bush''s retirement in 1974, she and Bush traveled the country extensively, driving across the USA and Canada several times. Doris was an avid volunteer in numerous organizations including Derby Historical Society and the Spooner House. In 1991, she and Bush were honored with the Charles H. Flynn Humanitarian Award given by the Valley United Way. Doris was a devout member of ChristEpiscopal Church, where she was active in the Altar Guild, St. Anne''s Society, EpiscopalChurch Women, Missions Committee, Prayer List, and the Choir. She also sang in the Valley Ecumenical Choir, and Derby Senior Chorus. Doris is survived by her beloved husband George Bush Clark, children, George A. Clark of Worcester Mass., Karen Minichino and her husband, Robert of Leesburg Va., her grandchildren Brian and Catherine Minichino, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by an infant daughter Mary Ellen who died at birth. Also her parents E. Arthur Lobdell (1947) and Francis Coastin Lobdell (1979), and by her brothers, Howard(1984), Arthur (1998), Leroy (1999), and her sister, Francis Dorman (2009). Calling hours will be Sunday, August 14th from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Jenkins-King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St., Ansonia.
