Obituary for Mary Holquist

MARY HOLQUIST 

 

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m., at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home Inc. for Mary Holquist, 92, who passed away on Friday at Omni Manor Nursing Home.

She was born April 22, 1923, in Hubbard, daughter of Louie Staydohar and Mary Erent. Mary was raised by her mother and stepdad, Frank.

She was a graduate of South High School and worked as a waitress at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. She was a former member of the Mahoning Methodist Church, she belonged to St. George’s Lodge No. 66, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She loved going to casinos and being with her family.

Surviving are her husband, John “Red” T. Holquist, whom she married March 16, 1968; a son, Harold (Patty) Lipscomb of Hubbard; two daughters, Donna (Larry) Burkholder of Youngstown and Patty (Reynold) Nesbitt of Youngstown; a sister, Ann Sanders of Youngstown; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Nicholas Staydohar; a sister, Theresa Staydohar; a grandson, Kevin; and a son-in-law, Larry.

Friends will be received Thursday, Aug. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home Inc.
