Obituary for Louis Kovach

HOWLAND - Louis Kovach, 88, died Saturday evening at Shepherd of the Valley, Warren. 

Louis was born May 24, 1927, in Harmersville, Pa., a son of the late John and Elizabeth Bartfai Kovach.

Louis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from October of 1945 through July of 1946, as a flight engineer on a PBY aircraft at Pensacola, Fla. He served from October of 1950 through September of 1952, as a radio repairman in the U.S. Army, 20th Field Artillery Battalion, in Germany.

Louis retired in 1992, after 20 years of service with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio as a telephone compliance investigator. He was a longtime ham radio operator K8EAU and was awarded a lifetime membership in the Twenty Over Nine Radio Club.

He leaves his brother, James Kovach of Howland; and five nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Louis was preceded in death by a brother, John Kovach; and a sister, Irene Kovach.

Per Louis’s wishes there will be no services or calling hours.

Interment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are being handled by the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
