Obituary for James J. Paroline
James J. Paroline, Sr. passed away on July 10, 2015. Jim had been a resident of Eastlake for 50 years.
Born in Library Pennsylvania in 1930, Jim served in the Army Reserves with the 308th Combat Engineer Battalion during the Korean War. He later transferred to the Naval Reserves as an Electronics Technician. He had the distinction of holding a high power rifle competition classification of "sharpshooter".
Jim married Patricia Mae Spencer in 1952 and soon thereafter took a job with Fisher Auto Body (General Motors) where he was employed as a tool and die repairman for 38 years. He was an active member and foreman of United Auto Workers Unions 25 and 29, and was a lifelong member of the American Legion. He also served faithfully as a Trustee of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church for 20 years. When not working, Jim enjoyed a good game of golf, watching his O.S.U. Buckeyes or putzing with tools in his workshop. In 2007, Jim moved to Vermont to live with family there.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia; his son, David; his parents, Edward and Anna; his siblings, William and Violet.
He is survived by his children, Suzanne (Ray), James Jr., Robert (Linda), Elizabeth, Tricia (Paul); his sister, Ursula (Lou); and nine grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, 7271 Lake Shore Blvd, Mentor, with burial following at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Monreal Funeral Home,
