Obituary for Matthew W Hammond

                                                                                                                                                                         Matthew W. Hammond, 23, of Painesville Township passed away July 26, 2013, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township. He was born March 1, 1990, in Euclid. Matt had lived in Fairport Harbor before moving to the Painesville area in 2000. He was newly engaged to Kat Mudrick and loved fishing, shooting and collecting guns and was an avid video game player. As a child Matt loved playing football for the City of Painesville. He had worked as a cook and landscaper. Matt was a loving son, grandson, and a great friend who looked forward to possibly being a dad one day. Survivors are his mother, Jean Barcus of Painesville; father, William E. Hammond of Newbury; fiancé, Katalina "Kat" Mudrick of Painesville Township; his half-sisters, Tracey (Clay) Kobe and Chris (James) Novak; and his nephew C.J. He is also survived by his cousin, Bryan Dagnan; and many other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bumpba and Louise Hammond; maternal grandparents, James and Alice Barcus; and his half-brother, William E. Hammond. Funeral service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, where the family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
