Obituary for Ryan Giambattista

BOARDMAN - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Boardman, with the Rev. Gerald DeLucia celebrating the Mass for Ryan Alexander Giambattista, 23, who passed away in a tragic accident on Friday, July 10, 2015.

Ryan was born Feb. 3, 1992, in Youngstown, the son of Terri DiGennaro and Bruce Giambattista.

Ryan was a 2010 graduate of Boardman High School and attended the Pittsburgh Art Institute. He worked as a mail carrier at the Sharon Post Office.

Ryan was a free-spirited artist and spent much of his time spray painting buildings around the greater Youngstown area. He had his art work displayed at various local shows and events including Grayland Gallery in Youngstown.

He was a truly caring and compassionate soul and was always available to lend an ear or shoulder.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Bruce and Dina Giambattista of Boardman and Rocco and Terri DiGennaro of Boardman; his grandparents, Alex and Margie Giambattista, Delores Zakrzewski, and Rocco and Rose DiGennaro; siblings Victoria (Alan), Brittany (Geoff), Craig, Rocco, James, and Deana; nephew Grayson; and aunt and uncles Alex Giambattista Jr., Richard (Carolyn) Zakrzewski, and Patricia (Sam) Kochefski; as well as various extended family.

He was preceded in death by grandparents George Zakrzewski and Helen and “Babe” Ferko.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. and again on Friday, July 17, at St. Charles Church, from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to the family, to be given in memory of Ryan’s passion for the arts.
