Susie E. (Starks) Sanford
Susie E. (Starks) Sanford, 94, was born in Akron, Ohio on February 18, 1921 to the late Elmer Sr. and Willie (Patton) Starks.
She was united in marriage to the late Willie Sanford in 1943. To this union three sons were born.
Susie worked for many years at Goodyear Air Craft and O''Neil''s in Downtown Akron. She was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church. After retiring Susie maintained her home until her health began to fail. She entered the Copley Health Center in 2007 and was a resident there until passing away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015.
She was a quiet and loving person with a beautiful spirit. She loved to cook and sew and was very good at both talents. Some of the dresses she created were of the utmost perfection. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Willie L. Jr., and Kevin L.; sisters, Doris Calhoun, Geraldine Starks, and Pauline Johnson; and brother, Elmer Jr.
She leaves to mourn her passing, son, Robert (Adrianne); sister, Scottie Addie; devoted brother, Harvey (Carmelia) and Otis; two grandchildren, Vance (Sarah), and Sloan; two godchildren, Arie and Erin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1310 Superior Ave., Akron, OH 44307, Service will be conducted by Pastor Dennis K. Butts, Sr. and Reverend Robert Talbot. Interment Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church from 10;30 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1249 Hartford Ave., Akron, OH 44320.
