Obituary for Charles E Robbins

                                                                                                                                                                         Charles E. Robbins, 79, of Willoughby, a U.S. Army veteran (Staff Sergeant), passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 18, 1935 in Monarch, Lee County, Va. Charles was a crane operator for 30 years at Cleveland Crane & Engineering Co., where he worked alongside his father until his retirement. Then Charles became the first bus driver for Laketran, from which he retired in 1997. During his time at Laketran, Charles won several "bus rodeos," where he proved his expertise behind the wheel. Now, there will be an empty seat for breakfast at Nick''s restaurant in Eastlake for the first time in many years. Survivors are his children, Bryan (Cherrise) Robbins, Steven (Linda) Robbins, Kim Robbins, and Vanessa (Chris) Dingus; grandchildren are Greg (fiancé Yeva Kisin), Daniel, Bradley, Kaitlynn, Andrew, Brysten, Aden, and Caleb. He is also survived by his former wife Roberta Robbins and his brother Jimmy (Penny) Robbins. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Rosa (Stidham) Robbins. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center,  Mentor. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland.
