Obituary for Karin Hultgren King

Karin King, age 84, wife of the late Arthur “Butch” King and lifelong Ansonia resident, passed away at home with her family by her side on Saturday June 6, 2015. She was born Jan. 15, 1931 in Milford, daughter of the late Gunnard & Svea Hultgren. Karin attended UCONN University in Storrs and graduated from the Hartford Hosp. School of Nursing. Karin had volunteered at the Ansonia Armory as a nurse, treating victims during the flood of 1955 where she contracted Polio and later overcame it. She worked as a Registered Nurse at several local nursing homes and retired from United Methodist Home in Shelton. She was also a big fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and East Carolina Pirates. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Karl King & wife Nancy, with whom she resided in Ansonia, 2 daughters Kristina Ukanowicz & husband Joseph of Ansonia and Heidi Coughlin & husband Geoffrey of Zebulon, N.C., 2 sisters Ingrid Hultgren of Rumson, N.J. and Astrid Curtis of London, England, 5 grandchildren Rebecca King of Tuscaloosa AL., Taylor King of Ansonia, Joseph Ukanowicz Jr. of Ansonia and Kiersten & Garrett Coughlin of Zebulon, N.C., 1 great grandson and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia.
