Obituary for Attorino J. Barone

Attorino J. “Reno” Barone, 98, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday evening, May 31, 2015, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 69 years to Carmella Culmo Barone. Mr. Barone was born in Manhattan, NY on Feb. 17, 1917, son of the late Phillipe Barone and Antoniette Segnatelli. A lifelong resident of Ansonia, he was the owner of the former Venice Restaurant, Twin Keg’s Restaurant, Fred’s Bar and Barone’s Restaurant, all in Ansonia. Later, he went on to work for the City of Ansonia and retired as the Superintendent of Public Works. Following his retirement, Reno was a driver at Healey Ford in Ansonia and worked at Barone’s Sports Bar in Seymour. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he honorably served during World War 2 in the 4th Armored Tanker Division under the direct command of General George Patton and was awarded the Bronze Star. Reno was a member of the Catholic War Veterans in Derby, St. Sebastian Men’s Club in Ansonia, 4th Armored Division Association and an avid fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants and UConn basketball. In addition to his wife Carmella, he is survived by a loving son, David M. Barone (Carol) of Ansonia, a loving daughter, Renee A. Capece (Anthony) of Milford, cherished grandchildren, James David Barone of Shelton, Shannon Barone and Taylor Barone of Ansonia, Christopher Barone of Plainville, Kellie Perkins of Milford and Rose Capece of Prospect, great-grandchildren, Devin Perkins of Milford and Kira Barone of VA. He was predeceased by a son, James “Gary” Barone and his wife Carol Barone, grandson, Eugene Perkins III and sisters, Delores DePalma, Edith Saffo and Katherine Wojack. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday June 3, 2015, from 5-8 pm, in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Thursday, his funeral will be held at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia.
