Joseph Dent

Joseph Dent was the ninth born of ten siblings to Jessie and Lizzie (Colbert) Dent in Crawford County, Georgia. In his teen years, he moved to Peach County, Georgia and graduated from Hunt High School in 1949. He moved to Ohio to join his brothers and sisters who had previously migrated to the north, all of them seeking other life opportunities. In 1950, he was drafted into the United States Army where he traveled to Okinawa, Japan and fought in the Korean War. He was a member of the Far East End. He was a faithful member of St. John CME Church, Phoenix Lodge 112 and Al Kaf Temple 109.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lizzie Dent, four brothers and five sisters.

He leaves to mourn his memory his devoted wife, Luciel Dent; daughters, Barbara and Lisa Dent; grandchildren, Danielle and Tristan Dent; two great grandchildren, RaQuela and Alise Dent; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration on Life service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. at St. John CME Church, 1233 S. Hawkins Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320. Family will receive friends from 11 until time of service, Pastor Reynard L. Monmouth officiating. The masonic service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Procession will form and condolences can be sent to 1103 Wyley Ave., Akron, Ohio 44306.
