Obituary for James J Holtz, Jr

                                                                                                                                                                         James J. Holtz, Jr., 76, of Mentor, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2015, after a long illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 7, 1938, to James Holtz, Sr. and Frieda (Hamrich) Holtz. He moved to Euclid where he grew up and graduated from Euclid H.S., Miami University and West Virginia University. He taught school at Berea and Midpark High Schools as well as Newark State College in New Jersey. He was employed at Fluid Controls in Mentor as well as Kichler Lighting in Independence. He was an avid reader, especially of history, loved high school football and had a keen interest in trains and railroading. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Miller) Holtz; children, James III, David (Janelle), Bryan (Danielle), Kevin (Megan), and Matthew (Toyomi); grandchildren, Joshua, Madelyn, Sam, Noah, Oliver, Charlie, Ellie, Ben, Noemi and Joe (deceased); and sister, Patricia (Holtz) Scott of Dover, Delaware. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Rd., Mentor on Friday, May 8, at 12 p.m. with greeting of family one hour before at the church. Burial will be at Western Reserve Gardens in Chesterland.
