Obituary for Harriett L Pomroy

HARRIETT L. POMROY Heaven welcomed Harriett L. Pomroy on Saturday, May 2, 2015, who passed away peacefully at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center, after a short illness.
 

Harriett was born Jan. 23, 1928, in McKeesport, Pa., a daughter of John C. and Anna R. Sheppard Bryce.

She came to this area in 1940, and was a 1946 graduate of East High School.

Harriett was a secretary at The Rayen School from 1946 to 1950, and was the secretary for the Pomroy Sign Company for many years.

She attended the Boardman Baptist Church of Boardman and the First Christian Assembly of Youngstown and was a member of the Christian Women’s Club. She loved to watch the Gaither and gospel DVDs.
 
Harriett’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved eating her special homemade pancakes.
 
Harriett enjoyed many winters in Florida and traveling, and also slot machines and casinos. She was a giving person and was known as a peacemaker and enjoyed attending her monthly high school card club.
 
She loved to send cards to people in their times of need and on birthdays and holidays.
 
Her husband, Richard L. Pomroy, whom she married Sept. 30, 1950, passed away April 30, 2005.
 
She will be sadly missed by her family, her son, Gary R. Pomroy; and her daughter, Karen (William) Lovitz, both of Youngstown; her grandchildren, Shon (Shannon) Barris, Sheli (Guy) Mathews, Sherli (Scott) Holbrook, and Sheri (Scott) Swank; and eight great-grandchildren, Chase, Connor, Sydney, Alexis, Hunter, Hope, Zach and Jadon.
 
She also leaves her sisters, Margaret Marstellar of San Diego; and Edna Mae (Elmer) Jensen of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
 
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
 
Services will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, at noon, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home, with calling hours on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m., and Friday, May 8, 2015, from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
 
Harriett will be laid to rest at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
