Obituary for Julia Helscel

JULIA HELSCEL YOUNGSTOWN – Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church on Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown for Julia Helscel, 99, who passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the Park Vista Retirement Community to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. J
ulia was born May 7, 1915, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Toth Pentek.

Julia was a member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church and was active in P.W. and served as a deaconess. She attended the church all of her adult life.

Julia is survived by her son, Larry (Penny) Helscel; daughters-in-law Rita, Norma Jean and Donna; a sister, Irene Pastula; 14 grandchildren, including Larry’s children, Kim (Justin) Pope, Kristy and Brian; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ira David Helscel, whom she married Aug. 22, 1957, and who passed away Sept. 21, 1973; her stepsons, David, Jerry and William; a stepdaughter, Donna Jean Luckhurst; three sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Ethel; and a brother, John.
Friends may call on Friday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the church. I
nterment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
