Obituary for Louis Posterli

LOUIS POSTERLI AUSTINTOWN - Louis Posterli, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, with his family by his side.
 

Louis was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Detroit, a son of the late Emilio and Adele Bocchio Posterli, came to Youngstown with his family as a child, and lived most of his life in this area.

Lou was a carpenter for 42 years with Carpenters’ Local No. 171, working with the Shutrump and A.P. O’Horo Companies. He retired in 1988.

He enjoyed woodworking, and had fond memories of building his family home and of working on the construction of the stadium at Youngstown State University. Lou loved animals, and he was a kind, honest man who did all he could to help people.

Mr. Posterli was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and he leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of nearly 69 years, Velma Goncy Posterli, whom he married May 11, 1946; four children, Eugene M. (Gerry) Posterli of Boardman, Diana Jean (Denny) Bernard of Oklahoma, Louis W. (Debbie) Posterli of Austintown, and Barbara Marie Posterli of Austintown; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Carolyn) Posterli of Liberty Township; a sister, Mary Powell of Youngstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Louis was preceded in death by a brother, Elio Posterli.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
