Obituary for Pearl J McMillan-Turner

Pearl Turner was born on February 1, 1926 in Moulton, Alabama and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 19, 2015.  The second oldest child of Rev. Ralph E. Brooks, Sr. and Daisy Brooks; Pearl accepted Christ at a young age.  She married John McMillan and moved to Struthers, OH and was a member of Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church in Youngstown where she was a choir member and soloist.   She moved to Akron and was a member of St. John C.M.E. Church and then Jubilee Temple Church in Akron.  She worked at City Hospital in the Uniform Room retiring in 1990. In 1979 she married Frank Turner who loved and cherished her dearly.
 Her life was committed to the Lord and she worshiped and served Him through her exceptional singing ability.  Pearl was extremely close to her brothers and sister and had a special bond with her sister, Ethel Marie.  She was also especially close to daughter-in-law Millie McMillan, brother-in-law, Lock Beachum and wife Janice of Youngstown, Oh Preceding her in death was her parents, Ralph and Daisy Brooks, brothers Ralph, Jr. and Alton Brooks, and sister Ethel Marie Doty.  She leaves to morn her passing her children John A. McMillan, Jr.  (Millie), Yvonne M. Brake (Darryl), and Yvette M. McMillan.  Grandchildren Andre McMillan, Stacey Myers (Ricardo), Nikiya McMillan, Michael Brake (Angela), and Daren Brake (Alaina) and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who she cherished Services will be Friday, March 27, at 12 noon at The House of the Lord 1650 Diagonal Rd., Akron, OH. 44320. Minister Daren Brake eulogizing. Interment Mt. Peace. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. Public viewing will be Thursday, March 26 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home at 549 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH. 44307.
