Obituary for Mary Olenchuk Grass

Mary Olenchuk Grass, 90, of West Haven and formerly of Walnut St. Seymour, entered eternal rest on March 10, 2015 at Apple Rehabilitation Center in West Haven. She was the widow of Lloyd Grass. Mary was born in Pennsylvania, on October 10, 1924, daughter of the late Samuel and Helen (Zavalick) Olenchuk. She was a communicant of St. Augustine Church. Mary was employed by the Sponge Rubber Company until her retirement. She was warm and welcoming and devoted her life to the care of her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Lloyd Grass, she was predeceased by her brother, former Seymour Police Chief John Olenchuk; sisters: Florence Cegelka, Alice Weymer, and Jean Kanyuck. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son in law, Elizabeth (Grass) and Bud Giaquinto of West Haven; brother Sam Olenchuk of Seymour; sister Joan Thorpe of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16th at 10:30 am at the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour with Rev. Honore Kombo officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 am Monday.
