Cecelia Darnell Christian (CeCe), 71, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2015.
She was born in Sioux City, Iowa on June 30, 1943 to the late Allen Darnell Christian and Allena Gay Christian (Houston). She was the eldest of seven children. Her family relocated to Akron, Ohio when she was four years old. She lived most of her life in Ohio. She did move to Chicago, Illinois for a short time, and then she returned to Ohio.
She worked for Hilton Inn West- Fairlawn for 32 years, last working January 31, 2011. Cecelia loved to travel, do word search puzzles, cook, and spend time with family and friends. She loved life and lived it to the fullest until her illness. She was a member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she once served on the Nurses Auxiliary and was a member of the choir.
Cecelia leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Rosalee Carter, Wayne Smith, Bernadette (Daryl) Jackson and Laurence Christian; two granddaughters, Niema Nicholson and Madison Jackson whom she adored; brothers, Allen D. Christian Sr., James Christian, Jackie Christian; sisters, Victoria Christian, Rosetta Thomas and Barbara Christian; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Akron General Visiting Nurse Service Hospice Care, especially to her nurse Gloria Mitchell and to Dr. Esther Rehmus and staff for their wonderful care.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 12 p.m. at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1225 Wooster Ave., Akron, Ohio 44307, Pastor Phillip Moore eulogizing. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at 1135 Peerless Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320 and condolences may be sent to 4602 4th Street NW, Canton, Ohio 44708 and 305 Way St., Akron, Ohio 44310.
