Obituary for Jeanette Metzger

SALEM - Jeanette E. Metzger, 81, died on Jan. 26, 2015, at 10:20 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Harvey R. and Geneva Boyce Rapp.

Jeanette was a Chaney High School graduate and a member of the Greenford Christian Church. First and foremost, she a homemaker, and a very proud and devoted wife, mother, grandmother of 22, and great-grandmother of nine. She was a real estate broker and realtor, she was a paralegal, and was Deputy Clerk of Courts for Austintown. Jeanette also was an Austintown Police and Fire dispatcher.

Survivors include her husband, James F. Metzger, whom she married on Oct. 12, 1974; her children, James (Wendy) Finlen of Youngstown, Gary (Karen) Finlen of Canfield, Kathy (Robin) Parks of Canfield, Wendy (Richard) DePalmo of Austintown, Jeanne Jones of Salem, Debbie (Rich) Jovanovich of Stow, James F. Metzger Jr. of Austintown, Christopher (Maria) Metzger of Tucson, Ariz., and Julie O’Malley of Austintown; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Doris Ford of Blairsville, Pa., and Dennis (Brenda) Rapp of Canton. 

Other than her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ronald and Robert Rapp.

Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

Entombment will follow at Green Haven Cemetery, Canfield.
