YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church for Mrs. Beverly A. Blackshear, 86, who departed this life Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at her residence.

Mrs. Blackshear was born June 11, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of William W. and Helen A. Williams Thomas.

She was a homemaker and a member of the church. She was a soloist for the church, sang with the Youngstown Symphony Chorus and Donbar Choral Society and was also a pianist and violinist. She worked at Abraham’s and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Her husband, James H. Blackshear, whom she married July 29, 1950, and died July 10, 2010.

She leaves her children, Gerald B. (Cynthia) Blackshear of Pittsburgh, Robert V. Blackshear of Youngstown and Terri D. (Timothy) Tarr of Vienna; two sisters, Naomi Byrd and Dorothy Branch, both of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; children Gail J., James W. and Richard A. Blackshear; and grandson Christian Blackshear.

Friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.
