Obituary for Lilia Olga Jennings
YOUNGSTOWN - Lilia Olga Jennings, 95, passed away early Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, 2015, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center.
Lilia, who was known to all as Olga, was born June 29, 1919, in Camaguay, Cuba, a daughter of the late Jose and Elvira Milagro Rodriguez, originally came to Salem in 1952, and moved to Youngstown from Texas in 1965.
She was a homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown, and she was a member of the Mother’s Hope Club at Easter Seals. Olga was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 213, and of the Salem Aerie.
Olga leaves two daughters, Mercedes M. (James) Pezzone of Poland and Rev. Lilia M. (Dr. William) Johnson of Syracuse, N.Y.; three grandchildren, William III (Nichole) Johnson, Michael Jr. (Jayne) Maravola, and Julia Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Damian, Nina, Destiny, Johnothan, Ally, Tyler, Jadyn, and Ciera; and her sister-in-law, Nicolina Miles and her family, who were very dear to her and offered continuous, loving support.
Olga’s husband, Joseph D. Jennings, whom she married June 25, 1952, passed away May 1, 2005. A son, Joseph A. Jennings, passed away in 2001. All 11 of her siblings are also deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., today, Jan. 22, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Christine Church, on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.
A committal service will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens
