JANE A. MOSS

YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens Chapel for Jane A. Moss, 87, who went peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014.

Jane was born on Nov. 5, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Mary and John Ferree.

She attended St. Brendan’s grade school and church and later graduated from Chaney High School. She went on to work for Tornello Wholesale Groceries. Mrs. Moss was an avid roller skater and it was there that she met her future husband, Carl D. Moss Jr. After courting her, they married on June 5, 1947, at St. Brendan’s Church. They celebrated their 67th anniversary this year.

Jane and Carl had four children together, the late Daniel Carl (Rose) Moss, Frank (Diane) Moss, Carol (the late Tim) Wolfgang, and David (Diana) Moss. Their grandchildren include Danny Jr. (Jenine) Moss, Chrissy Moss, Mike (Jennifer) Moss, Tasha and Stacy Wolfgang and D.J. and Jena Moss; great-grandchildren Joshua and Logan Moss, Kylee Moss and Kendra Moss; along with many nieces and nephews.

Mr. and Mrs. Moss were active members for many years of St. Joseph’s in Austintown, where Jane volunteered on Fridays, baking and selling pizzas.

Everyone knew she was an avid, loyal Democrat, working under the reign of Attorney Don Hanni III, campaigning and also served for several years as a precinct committee woman.

For well over 40 years, Jane was also the recording secretary on the Board of Directors for West Side Merchants, helping to get new members and planning installations, along with wonderful memorable parties.

Over the years of their life, together she and Carl, designed and refurbished two Greyhound buses to become their traveling home on wheels.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack and Bruce Ferree; and sister Marian Turk. Also recently passing away was her son, Daniel Moss and son-in-law Tim Wolfgang.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the exceptional staff at Briarfield Manor and Hospice for their superb and comfortable care.

Per the family’s request, please do not send any flowers
