Obituary for Florence Bentley Coolidge

Florence Coolidge, age 93, of Derby left this life on Friday, November 21, 2014, surrounded by her loving family and close friends at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the devoted wife of the late Alva E. Coolidge. Florence was born on June 30, 1921 in Derby to the late Kenneth and Doris (Crocker) Bentley, and spent part of her life on Locke Street in Ansonia before moving back to Derby.

She happily spent her life raising her beloved children and spoiling her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her infectious laughter and sense of humor drew many people into her life. Her “Wendy’s Lunch Bunch” family elected her their president and always looked to “Flo” for a good laugh.

She was the beloved mother to Janice Duval (Kenneth), Stanley Girard, Jerome Coolidge, Pamela Queen (Raymond), and Karen Jalowiec, and also leaves many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son Kevin Joseph Girard and by her two brothers, Kenneth and George Bentley.

Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby on Monday from 4 to 7 PM. Her funeral service will be held at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home on Tuesday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
