Obituary for David P. Bucurel
David P. Bucurel, O.D., age 63 of Mentor, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 16, 2014. Dr. Bucurel loved his work as an optometrist and was the owner of Mentor Optical and Eye Docs in North Randall. He was a kind, honest, and selfless person who would go out of his way to help others - family, friends, and patients alike. An avid Browns and OSU Buckeyes fan, he was active in the Alumni Associations of both Ohio Wesleyan University and The Ohio State University. His lifelong passion with music led him to singing in the Ohio Wesleyan choir as well as the choir at St. Gabriel Parish where he even served as its choir director. Dr. Bucurel was active at St. Gabriel Parish and was also proud to be a member of Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church in Youngstown where his grandparents were some of the founding members. Known as being devoted and loving to his family, he was especially proud of his three sons and the men they have become. He is survived by his three sons, Nick (Andrea), Ryan, and Craig; grandchildren, Joey and Giuliana; brother, Richard; and sister, Cheryl Past (Si). He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Mary Bucurel; and a brother, Chris. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd. (please meet at church). The interment will follow at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
