Obituary for Rose Harris

YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, for Mrs. Rose Harris, 92, who departed this life Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Mrs. Harris was born April 6, 1922, in Montgomery, Ala., a daughter of Samuel Sr. and JoAnn Ivory Jones.

She had worked as a press operator for 13 years with Packaging Corporation of America, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, its Nurses Guild, floral and decorating and Consolation Ministries, and former usher board member. She was also a member of the NAACP, a former Y-Teen Advisor and Candy Striper.

Her husband, Henry, whom she married Dec. 26, 1947, passed away Jan. 3, 2006.

Rose leaves to cherish her beloved memory, her daughter, Delores (James) Harris of Akron; a son, Henry (Marcia) Harris III of Cleveland; a sister, Beatrice Moore of Warrensville Heights; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Greeting her at Heaven’s Gate were her parents and husband; and two brothers, Amos L. Jones and Sam Jones Jr.

Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
