Betty Jane Harper
Betty Jane Harper was born April 24, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to the late John Henry and Nora Brown. She departed her earthly home on October 15, 2014.
Betty was educated in the Akron Public Schools. She worked in her early years as a home healthcare provider and was later employed with the Akron Board of Education as a teacher''s assistant for children with special needs. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Betty was skilled in arts and crafts. She spent countless hours doing special creative projects with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, attending plays, watching movies and listening to her favorite gospel recordings. Betty was also endeared for the love she put into the many wedding wishing wells she made for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Brown; sister, Carrie Hampton and great grandson, Davionne McPherson.
She leaves to mourn her passing, sister, Daisy Stiggers of Akron, Ohio; her daughter and caregiver, Yvette Harper; daughters, Cheryl Davis of Tampa, Florida and Ann Harper of Akron, Ohio; sons, Richard (Tiffany) Harper and Mark (Theresa) Harper Sr. of Akron, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Tammy Harper of Akron, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; honorary daughter, Lynn Davis of Akron, Ohio; close friend, Marguerite (Cookie) Bumpus of Akron, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Ishah Gough, who provided special care to our mother in her time of need.
