Obituary for Bedri Hassan

Bedri "Tootie" Hassan, age 78, of Venice, Florida, entered into rest peacefully on Monday Oct. 6, 2014 in the arms of the women he laughed with, lived for and loved, his beloved wife and best friend of 52 years Joan (Ladonna) Hassan.
Bedri was born in Waterbury on Oct. 15, 1936, son of the late Joseph and Jemile (Jaffer) Hassan and spent most of his life in Derby before retiring to Florida in 2007.
He was a graduate of Derby High School class of 1954. After high school he went to serve our country in the US. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict
Bedri then owned a pro shop in Waterbury, shortly thereafter, he moved it to Derby. In 1959, Bedri joined his family in operating Joanne''s Restaurant until 1986. Bedri also served his community as a Derby Police Commissioner from 1976 to 1984. After retirement, he operated "Tootie''s Limosine Service in CT and Florida and enjoying golf every chance he got!
He is the beloved father of Sylvia Hassan, Lynn Biscoe, Lori Hassan-Lionetti and Debra Palmieri and cherished grandfather of Jake, Jenna, Lindsay, Jason and Alyssa, loving brother of Dane Hassan and also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
We thank God for the Gift of his life and the blessing of the times we have spent with him.
Friends may call on Friday, October 10, 2014 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street in Derby, His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
