Obituary for Emily Clark Godkin

Emily Vivian Clark Godkin, RN, 91, of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late James Godkin entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Griffin Hospital, Derby surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Beacon Falls on March 1, 1923 daughter of the late Thomas and Emily C. Clark. Emily was a member of the Seymour Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Seymour High School and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. She had been a nurse at Laurel Heights of Shelton, Griffin Hospital of Derby and the CT Mental Health of New Haven. Emily enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening, playing the piano and guitar and enjoyed doing crafts. Emily had been a resident of Seymour for 71 years and had previously resided in Oxford. She loved being with her family and friends. Her loving family includes her sons James T. Godkin of Seymour, John E. Godkin (Carrie) of South Sutton, NH and her daughter Linda Sheehy (William) of Shelton, her brothers Clement Clark of Maryland, Thomas Clark of Florida and her grandchildren Jennifer Sheehy Lyke (Kenneth) of Milford, Dawn Godkin of PA, Timothy Godkin of NH, Robert Godkin (Jen) of NH, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her brothers Edgar and Blair Clark and her sister Marguerite Serdinski. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Emily''s life will be held in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Rt. 67), Seymour, on Wednesday evening July 16, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. with the Rev. James Midgley, Pastor of the Seymour Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Memorial gifts in memory of Emily may be made to the charity of one''s choice through the Funeral Home.
