Roberta (Bay) Greene, 91, fell asleep in death after a long illness on August 23, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. She truly loved her family and will be dearly missed.
Born in Hurtsboro, Alabama, Mrs. Greene had lived in this community for over 60 years. She last worked for Akron General Medical Center in 1974 and retired due to illness. Mrs. Greene was baptized in 1957 and member of the Thornton Congregation of Jehovah''s Witness. She loved to read the Bible and share it''s truths with others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge and Carrie Upshaw; husband, Chester; sister, Minnie Marie Rasaw; brothers, Louis, Johnny, Eddie, William and Eugene Upshaw; son, Oscar Underwood; and stepson, Ronald Greene.
She is survived by sons, Herman (June) Underwood, William Underwood, both of Akron, Ohio, H. Gray (Ernestine) Underwood of Hudson, Ohio, Gary Green and Johnnie (Melanie) Green, both of Akron, Ohio; daughter, Darlene (Ernest) Mims of Fairlawn, Ohio; stepsons, Raymond Greene, Roland Greene; stepdaughters, Roslyn Greene and Roberta Lyn Greene, all of Akron; sister-in-law, Mable Underwood; 33 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August, 30 2014 at Rhoden Memorial Home, 1101 Palmetto Ave., Akron, Ohio, with Mr. John Richards officiating. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 447 Winchester Rd., Fairlawn, Ohio 44333.
