Obituary for Evelia Salinas

GIRARD – A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 10 a.m. for Evelia Salinas, 87, who died Saturday morning at Hospice House.

Evelia was born Dec. 1, 1926, in El Rodeo, Michoacán, Mexico, coming to America in 1965 and settled in Youngstown. She was the daughter of Candido and Placida Tellez Ceja.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When you visited with Evelia you never left hungry.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Theresa (Fernando) DeChellis and Virginia (Emilio)LaLama; her sons, Ballardo (Jennie) Jr. and Jose (Sonia) Salinas; her brother, Salomon Ceja; her sister, Elia Ceja; grandchildren Carrie (Dennis), James (Lauren) Marina, Fernando, Sofia, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren Giovanni, Elysia, Milani, Caden, Caleb, Ava, and Dominick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ballardo “BB” Salinas whom she married May 10, 1945, and who died March 9, 2007; and her sister, Trina Ceja.

Calling hours will be at the Schiavone Funeral Home in Youngstown Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Entombment will be at Green Haven Cemetery in Canfield
