Obituary for Ethel Chambers
Ethel L. Chambers (Span) went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2014. She was born on September 29, 1924 in Barberton, Ohio to Willie and Osie Mae Span. She married Samuel M. Chambers II and to this union nine children were born. Ethel was a lifelong member of the Akron Community; she retired from the United States Postal Service where she impacted the lives of many. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M Chambers; parents, Willie and Osie Mae Span; three sons, William G, Bryan and Kevin Chambers. She leaves to cherish her loving memory and legacy her loving children, Stephen Chambers, Samuel (Celeste) Chambers, Richard Chambers, Gail Chambers, Jennifer (Anthony) Purefoy and Carol (Kevin) Williams; ten grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren; "sister", Ann Gates; and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at The House of The Lord, 1650 Diagonal Road, Akron, Ohio 44320 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9 until the time of service. Pastor Dennis Butts, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Samuel M and Ethel L Chambers Scholarship fund at the University of Akron Foundation, Akron, Ohio 44325-2603.
