Kenneth W. McIntosh, Sr.
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Kenneth W. McIntosh, Sr. was born on August 4, 1925 in Freedom, Pa., the son of Alexander C. and Maude A. McIntosh.
He graduated from Follansbee, W. Va. High School in June 1943 followed by a 19 month service as an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps, attended college at Bethany College and West Virginia University, graduating with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. Employed by Goodyear Tire, he was interrupted by a seventeen month deployment during the Korean War serving with the Army Corps of Engineers. Returning to Goodyear, he spent 36 years as an engineer in the Research Division, retiring in 1987. He obtained seven patents at Goodyear. He and his wife Jean, traveled extensively during retirement. He also excelled in bowling and golf.
Preceded in death his brother, Donald McIntosh and brother-in-law, Marion Vest, he is survived by his wife, Jean Huffman Heflin McIntosh of 57 years; son, Kenneth W. Jr. (Paula); daughter, Constance Jean (Paul) and stepson, W. Rederick Heflin (Judy); six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Alexander C. McIntosh, Jr. (Teresa) of Peoria, Ill.; and sister, Joan McIntosh Vest of Glastonbury, Conn.
Memorial Calling will be held from 2 to 4 on Sunday, Aug. 3 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the Falls Firefighters & Community Society, P.O. Box 1022, Cuyahoga Falls OH 44223.
