Obituary for James F Grope

James F. “Butch” Grope, 75

BOARDMAN – There will be funerals services at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the Poland United Methodist Church in Poland for James F. “Butch” Grope, 75, who passed away Monday afternoon, July 28, at the Hospice House with his family by his side.
Jim was born March 11, 1939, in Youngstown, the son of John L. and Alverda (Donahue) Grope.
He worked at Youngstown Steel Door, Parks Garden Center, Waste Management, and Tee Up Golf Range. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, horse racing, and bowling with the Youngstown Steel Door Bowling Team. Jim was a past Exalted Ruler of Elks in Youngstown and volunteered with the Aut Mori Grotto. He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School.
Besides his wife, Sally A. (Harbison) Grope, whom he married May 15, 1959, Jim will be remembered lovingly by his two sons, Jeff A. (Eileen) Grope of Youngstown and James R. Grope of Ball Ground, Ga.; his three grandchildren, Jeffrey A., Kathryn, and James L. Grope; his sister, Connie Coriston of Austintown; and two brothers, Richard (Kim) Grope of Austintown and Robert (Phyllis) Grope of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis and David Grope.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road in Poland.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the angels at the Hope Center and the Hospice House for their great care of Jim.
The Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman has been bestowed the honor and privilege of handling the arrangements for Jim.
