TALLMADGE -- Angelin Kariotis, 90, passed away July 18, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Monessen, Pa., she has lived in Tallmadge since 1956. Angelin retired in 1989 as a Legal Secretary with the City of Tallmadge. She was an active member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where she served on the Board of Trustees and as Treasurer. She was an active member and past President of Philoptochos, a member of Daughter''s of Penelope, and active with the Good Samaritans. Angelin enjoyed her family and many dear friends, and was known as "Yiayia" to all.
Angelin is survived by husband of 66 years, Anthony; son, Bob (Patricia) Kariotis of Lower Burrell, Pa.; daughter, Kathryn (James) Vanderwist of Solon; grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony and Peter Kariotis and Michelle, Timothy, and Bobby Vanderwist; along with her five great grandchildren, Brittany, Nicholas, Connor, Miley and Leila.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stelios and Eleni Gerazunis; brothers, Michael Gerazunis and Anthony Geris.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union St., Akron, OH 44304 with Fr. Jerry Hall officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., On the Historic Tallmadge Circle, with Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anthony Retikas, M.D. Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the Good Samaritans, both in care of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
