Obituary for John Popovich

John Popovich

age 79 passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Massillon, on March 12, 1935 to the late Mark and Mildred Popovich. He was a 1953 graduate of Washington High School. He married Beverly Herman on August 27, 1955 and they spent 59 wonderful years together. John worked at Superior Brand Meats for 32 years and was one of the last original employees. He was an avid runner participating in many events with the Canton Road Runners Club, loved to fish, walking with his retired friends, bird watching and spending time with his family and his grand dogs. He was a lifelong board member with Superior Savings Credit Union and held the position as president for a number of years and enjoyed working with the employees. John was also a helper with the Blue Angels Hot Rod Club.

    He is survived by his wife Beverly and their children; Vickie (Kim) Shankle, John G. (Lora) Popovich and Mark J. (Amy) Popovich; his grandchildren Andrew (Brittanie) Popovich, Austin Popovich and Kyle Popovich; his great-grandson Jaxon Berenyi; his half-sister Gloria Allman, his grand dogs Maddie & Macy and a host of family members and friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his half-brothers Larry ''Babe'' Tintor and Ted Tintor of California.

    Funeral Services will be held at the Paquelet & Arnold- Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
