Obituary for Ernestine M Guyton

Earnestine Marie Guyton was born on March 27, 1939 in Marion, Alabama, and was the only child of the late Carrie Ann Smith. She went home to be with the Lord July 11, 2014.

 She graduated from Lincoln High School and Knoxville College and in 1964 she obtained her Practical Nursing degree.  After obtaining her degree, Earnestine gained employment with Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio where in 2004 she retired after more than 40 years of service.  With every interaction she shared her beautiful personality and smile, giving comfort to many children and their families.

Earnestine made her commitment to the Lord and was a devoted member to Akron Bethel Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church for over 45 years. Earnestine held several positions in the church such as Sabbath School Superintendent and Teacher, Home and School Association, and was the first Ordained Female Elder at Akron Bethel SDA.

 Earnestine was preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly Bearden, and leaves to cherish her memory, one son Anthony Guyton of Cleveland Ohio, two daughters, Karen Guyton of Akron, Ohio and Kelli (Jerry Sr.) Johnson of Elloree, South Carolina, her first cousins, Mary (Rev. Samuel) Johnson of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Roberta Branch, of New York, NY; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.  

 Service will be held Friday July 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1398 Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44312, Dr. Derrick Moffett officiating.  Interment  Mt. Peace Cemetery.
