Obituary for Robert Calkins
Bob Calkins, age 76, of Mentor, passed away June 20, 2014, at his residence in the presence of his family.
He was born June 24, 1937 in Wayland, Mich.
He retired from General Electric after 38 years, after retiring he worked for Spudnuts and Classic Auto. He received his Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Western Michigan University. He was a longtime member of Faith Community Church in Mentor, serving as the church treasurer. He enjoyed square dancing with many extended family members of Broken Wheel Squares, Marschmellow Squares and Friday Night Mixers. He also enjoyed camping and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy; children, Faye (David) Layne, Linda (Jim) Moses, Geta (Mike) Sidley, Ted (Jenny) Calkins and Ahrea (Peter) Root; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Winona Calkins.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Faith Community Church, 5885 Hopkins Rd., Mentor.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the church and 10:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the church. Interment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland.
