Ruth Middleton Turley
Ruth Middleton Turley, 77, died June 18, 2014.
She was born August 24, 1936, in Akron, Ohio to Miriam Nighman Middleton and Arnold Middleton. She was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and The College of Wooster.
Ruth married John Joseph Turley, Jr. and enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. Together, they raised four children, John Turley (Janet), Elaine Turley, Jan Burns-Nowicki (Tim) and Jodi Foulds (Doug); and found great fun in the lives of their ten grandchildren, AJ and Sarah Turley, Erik, Brad and Jordan Shoger, Carrie Grimm (Cody), Karlie and Devin Burns, and Andy and Kelsey Foulds. Ruth also had the joy of knowing her two great-granddaughters, Aubrey Turley and Cora Grimm. Ruth was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Todd Burns.
Ruth and John were active members of St. Paul''s Episcopal Church in Akron, where Ruth served on the prayer shawl ministry and greeted Sunday worshippers at the front desk. Ruth was also a 35-year volunteer at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, where she assisted on the maternity ward and in the gift shop, while also serving on the Women''s Board. Ruth and John found a shared sense of mission in their volunteerism in the organ transplant community through the Cleveland Clinic and Lifebanc.
Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul''s Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., with Rev. Amjad Samuel officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd.
