Obituary for James Spicer

James Terrance ''''Terry'''' Spicer

77, passed away at home Sunday, June 15, 2014, following an extended illness. He was born in Massillon Aug. 30, 1936 to the late Charles and Dorothy (McGuire) Spicer. Terry was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1955. He was in sales working with Hal''''s Sports, Buckeye Trophy, Rand Hardware and Sporting Goods and finally Orrville Leather retiring in 1997. He enjoyed playing and coaching sports. He coached football, baseball, basketball and wrestling. Terry was an avid follower of his children''''s and grandchildren''''s teams and then in later years as they started to coach, Dad would be there. He was an avid member of the Booster Club of WHS Sports, Football Sideliners, Exchange Club and Massillon Little League. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beverly (Porter) Spicer; their sons, Michael (Cathy) Spicer of Kent, Mark (Julie) Spicer of Norton, Brian (Grace) Spicer of Fremont, Bruce Spicer of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Kevin Spicer of Massillon; 16 grandchildren that brought him much joy: sister, Suzanne Spicer of Massillon; brother, Richard (Marilyn) Spicer of Lima; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Blaine (Tom), Timothy and Donald Spicer. Family and friends will gather at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, Kevin O'''' Brien, Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
