Obituary for Alberta G Murtaugh

ALBERTA JEAN MURTAUGH

“Together Again”

HUBBARD - Alberta Jean (Conn) Murtaugh, 84, has gone to be with her LORD on Thursday June 5, 2014, after battling cancer.

She was born to the late Hugh and Emily (Jagger) Conn on April 19, 1930.

Alberta is predeceased by her husband, Joe, who died on May 30, 2014; her son Joseph Patrick Murtaugh; and siblings, Carol (Richard) Davis, Ella (Lawrence) Lawn, Beatrice (Alvin) Campbell, Bessie (Charles) Craig, Sarah (Walter) Grist, James Conn, and Carl Conn.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Beverly (Gary) Bartholomew, formerly of Hubbard; and three granddaughters, Amanda (Dominic) Mastropietro, Janine (David) Bradley, and Megan Bartholomew; and her sisters, Jane (John) Simpson and Ruth (Sam) Grist.

Alberta graduated from Hubbard High School in 1948, and worked as a supervisor in outpatient billing at St. Elizabeth Health Center and also at Radiology Consultants in Youngstown.

When she retired, she decided to start her own business, Bayberry Lane, which sold dried flower arrangements at craft shows throughout Ohio and New York. Having come from a large family, with many sisters, Alberta was a natural at mentoring young women. Her personal ministry was witnessing to and guiding young women at her church, Calvary Baptist, where she has been a member for 43 years. Before falling ill, Alberta treasured weekly outings to enjoy the company of her sisters, Jane and Carol, where they would go shopping, watch movies and gab over dinner.

One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother to her “girls,” and spoiling them like only a grandmother can do. Alberta and her late husband Joe, spent the last few years raising Bella Boo, their adopted Border Collie, of whom she was immensely proud. Alberta will always be remembered by her loved ones as being a dedicated wife and mother with a generous and loving heart. On June 11, 2014, Joe and Alberta would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Alberta’s family would like to thank Martha, her dearest friend and sister in Christ, whose labors of love could never be repaid. Additionally, we want to thank the wonderful nurses, aids, and staff of Southern Care Hospice for their devoted support and care.

The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, June 9, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a service at 7 p.m. at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

A private burial will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends are invited to visit the funeral home’s website at www.stewart-kyle.com to share memories and condolences
