Obituary for Harvey (Sonny) C Frey

Harvey C. ““Sonny”” Frey, 81, of Highland Ave., Kutztown, died Friday, October 13, 2006 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, where he was a patient since September 28, 2006. He was the husband of Lulu H. (Moser) Frey. They were married August 22, 1945. Born in Kutztown, PA, he was a son of the late Harvey W. and Esther (Zwoyer) Frey. He owned and operated along with his wife, the former Frey’’s Store, Highland Ave, Kutztown and E. Main St., Fleetwood. He also owned and operated Fancy Pantry, catering and delicatessen, Kutztown. In addition, he owned and operated the former Crystal Bowl Bowling Lanes and ““The Kitchen”” restaurant, Kutztown, until his retirement in 1988. He was a 1942 graduate of Kutztown High School. He was a US Army veteran of WWII where he saw service in Italy as a member of the Ski Troops 10th Mountain Division. He was a 50 year member of Huguenot Lodge #377, F. & A.M., Kutztown, Reading Consistory and Rajah Shrine, Reading. He was a member of Kutztown Lions Club, Kutztown; member of former Hoch-Balthaser, Post #480, American Legion, Kutztown and Ray A. Master, Post #217, American Legion, Topton. He was also a member of the Kutztown Fair Board and served as its vice president for many years. He was a former member of Kutztown Jaycees. He was a member of Saint John’’s Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he served several terms on church council. He is survived by Wife, Sons, Richard H. ““Dick”” husband of Eileen (Borghi) Frey, Lebanon, NJ, Jack W. husband of Linda L. (Brannan) Frey, Fleetwood; Sisters, Erma (Frey) widow of Paul Potteiger, Elizabethtown, PA, Estina (Frey) Gajda, Allentown, Ejay (Frey) Hoppes, Wescosville. In addition, he is survived by five Grandsons, Michael S. husband of April (Sweet) Frey, Brian J. husband of Dana (Honeywell) Frey, Kevin J. Frey, Scott W. Frey, and James M. Frey. He was predeceased by a sister Ellen (Frey) wife of LeRoy Adams, Kutztown. Funeral Services are Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 11:00 AM from Saint John’’s Lutheran Church, 201 East Main Street, Kutztown. Private interment with Military Honors in Hope Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Tuesday, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich St., Kutztown, and Wednesday, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church. Masonic Services are Tuesday at 8:15 PM.
