Obituary for William Angstadt

William Angstadt, a veteran of the Civil War, who had been residing alone for some years in a small house on Baldy street, was taken ill Wednesday night of last week. His son Elwood of the Patriot force, at once went his assistance. His condition grew gradually worse and it was decided to remove him to the county home hospital. George R. Schaeffer, the undertaker took him down in his car, the son accompanying him. He was nicely quartered and given the best of attention. On Saturday news came that he had passed away. His body was brought home the same day. he was a member of Co. B, 205th Penna. Vol. Infantry, and was in the thick of the battle at Petersburg. He was present when General Lee surrendered. William was the last of five brothers to pass away. He was aged 74 years, 4 months and 29 days. he is survived by one son, Elwood M. Angstadt, of town, one grandchild, Paul W. Angstadt of Schuylkill Haven, and the fallowing sisters; Mrs William Haines, of Indiana; Mrs. hannah Smith of New York and Mrs. James Morris of Philadelphia. The funeral was held in the funeral parlors of Undertaker George R. Schaeffer, on Tuesday afternoon at 2 oclock, where all services were conducted by Rev. George B. Smith. Interment was made on Hope cemetery. Undertaker George R. Schaeffer had charge. The bearers were Charles W. Miller, Charles D. Herman, A. M. Herman and Oscar O. Sell (Patriot, 5/29/1919).
