CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Chester (''Chet'', ''Captain'', ''Papa'') Spear, 92, passed away peacefully on May 7, with his family by his side.
Born in Akron on December 29, 1921, Chet was a graduate of North High School and the Hammel School of Business. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Akron City Hospital as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1990. Chet was an avid bridge player.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Eleanor; daughter, Carey (Mike) Clowser; and son Ty Spear; former daughter-in-law, Karen Spear; grandchildren, Jill, Tracey, Greg, Denise, Erin, Sara, and Chrysa; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Anthony Funeral Home MCGOWAN-REID & SANTOS CHAPEL 247 Stow Ave. (at 3rd. St., one block north of Portage Trail in) Cuyahoga Falls. A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor David Nevergall on Monday, 11 am, at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls.
