Ajamu Ahmed Apara (Aka Edward Gene Lee)

Ajamu Ahmed Apara (Aka Edward Gene Lee), 61, passed away April 20, 2014 at Summa Akron City Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Sylacauga, Alabama on March 25, 1953 he lived in this community 47 years. He graduated from East High School in 1973. He had been employed by Akron Board of Education for 15 years before retiring. He participated in Big Brothers and Sisters mentoring program for two years. He was a member of Akron First Seventh-Day Adventist Church and participated in Bible Study Groups. In 2008 he received recognition from Keep Akron Beautiful for his well decorated house in North Akron.

He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Cecil T. Lee, Harry R. Lee and Ronnie (Lynn) Lee; sister, Sheila (Spencer) Fowler all of Akron, Ohio; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many beloved family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 12 noon at Akron First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 655 E. Waterloo Rd., Akron, OH 44306 with Pastor Jerry Chase officiating. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery. Family and friends may visit the church from 11 a.m. until time of services. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 155 E. Emerling Ave., Akron, OH 44301
