Alfred Maurice Bell

Alfred Maurice Bell went home to be with the Lord April 23, 2014 after a short illness.

He was born August 11, 1945 in Akron, Ohio to the late Rev. Thomas H. Bell, Sr. and Estelle (Warfield) Bell.

Maurice was a graduate of South High School. He worked for Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio as a welder for 30 years, retiring in January 1998.

Maurice, at a very early age joined St. Thomas Baptist Church and served faithfully. He coached the South Rangers Pee Wee''s for many years, and was dedicated to his players. His greatest hobbies were bowling and skating.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine siblings.

Maurice leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Colletta (Singletary) Bell; children, Lance (Kelly), Alfred Maurice, Jr., Charles, Dierre (Shea) and Derrick; daughter, Chenell; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; brother, Rudolph (Myrtis) Bell; sister, Barbara (Roy) Young; mother-in-law, Jackie Singletary; brothers-in-law, Robert Singletary, Anthony (Mary) Singletary; and sister in-law, Anita Barnett.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 12 noon at Second Baptist Church, 690 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44311, with Pastor Michael Holley officiating. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery. Family and friends may visit the church from 11 a.m. until time of services. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 379 Noble Ave., Akron, OH 44320.
