Obituary for Eloise G Dunbar

BERLIN CENTER – Private services were held for Eloise G. Dunbar, 88, who passed away Thursday morning at Hampton Woods Care Center.

Eloise was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Berlin Center, the daughter of the late Eli T. and Eliza J. (Stockli) Rakestraw.

She was a graduate of Western Reserve High School and a member of the Berlin Center United Methodist Church.

Eloise was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary of Ellsworth and an avid bowler.

She leaves four children, Mary Lou (William) Ligotti and Terry Lee Dunbar, both of Berlin Center, Bruce (Vicki) Dunbar of Columbus, and Shirley (Sam) Howard of Monroe, Ga.; one brother, Wylie (Bernice) Rakestraw of Florida; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, Evert L. Dunbar Jr., whom she married Sept. 1, 1950. He passed away Feb. 3, 2003. She was also preceded in death by an infant son; as well as three brothers, William, Howard and Charles Rakestraw; and two sisters, Marjorie Ross and Lelaura Hills.

Arrangements were by the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.
