Obituary for John D. White

TOGETHER AGAIN John D. White, 88, of Mentor, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born June 18, 1925, in Clay County, WV. He was formerly of Andover, Cleveland, and resided in Mentor for the past 41 years. Mr. White worked at the Chrysler Motors in Twinsburg until his retirement in 1988. Prior to that he worked at General Motors. After his retirement he owned and operated Whitehaven Camp Ground in PA. He was a U.S. ARMY Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. White was one of the founding members of the Church of God, in Euclid, where he was formerly on the Men''s Ministry and Board of Trustees. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his brothers, Jack L. (Pat) White of Ashtabula, Sonny White of Augusta, GA, Paul (Linda) White of Jefferson, and Rodney White of Jefferson; nieces, Sonia "Sunnie" Slapnicker, Jane White; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Preceding John in death was his wife Nora White; sisters, Fay Oko, Rebecca Elmore, Van Yates; brothers, Lamont, Harold, and Darrell White. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, at Church of God, 24951 N. Lakeland Blvd, Euclid, OH 44132.
