Obituary for William H. Hayward

Services for William H. "Big Bill" Hayward, 82, of Eastlake, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home. The family will host a celebration of Bill''s life at Trader Jack''s Restaurant on Lakeshore Boulevard in Eastlake following the funeral services. Mr. Hayward passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at his home. Born June 3, 1931, in Willoughby, he was a lifelong Eastlake resident. He was a member of the Chagrin River Salmon Club and loved baseball, serving as a sponsor of softball teams for many years. He enjoyed spending his time with friends and family sitting on his swing by the fire at the marina. Mr. Hayward was a builder by trade, owned the Lakeshore Marina in Eastlake for more than 20 years, and most recently owned Eastlake Marina. Survivors are his children, Dale (Paula) Hayward and LuAnn (George) Rihaly, both of Eastlake, Lori Smiley of Nashville, Tenn., and Randy (Marcia) Hayward of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Dolly) Hayward of Eastlake; and sister, Pat Groskopf of Willoughby. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families; and his loving companion, Eleanor Ambrose. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea "Dot" Hayward; son, Billy Hayward; and grandson, Frank Perotti. His parents, Elmer and Anna Hayward; siblings, Casey, Diddle, Mike, Jerry, Helen, Margaret, Mary and Dorothy; and son-in-law, Steve Rihaly are also deceased. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
